the price ot pay for competivie figure skating

I need to get this out of my system

I am/was a figure skater. I have (been) skating for 10 years (minus last year). Through out these years i have figured out the requirements that you need to become sucessful in figure skating (at least in brampton)

1. WORK HARD
This is a must do. You have to self train your self practically EVERY SINGLE DAY!

2. HAVE PARENTS THAT ARE WILLING AND ABLE TO DRIVE YOU EVERYWHERE
This is a must have. With out transportation you are screwed. No transportation, no practice, no compertons, no sucess.

3. HAVE STINKING RICH PARENTS
I'm not agiants all those rich people out there but it does seem to me if you're not-so-wealthy you won't be able to aford skating. (prime example....me) If i were to make a break down of skating it can well come up to over 3000.....depending on how much time you're willing to commit to and if you're in the middle of a growth spurt.

4. HAVE PARENTS THAT LET YOU MISS SCHOOL
Yes that's right , I said miss school, as in skip. WITH YOUR PARENTS CONSENT. Now your not skippign to hang out with friends, you're skipping to go to an arena to work your butt off for another 2 hours maybe.

5. BE NATURALLY FLEXIBLE
NOt trying to offend anyone but it's true. If you aren't flexible or you're fat (fat as in it probably not possible to lose it) figure skating isn't your sport. Figure skating is all about how much your foot can touch your face or how high you can jump. this means that you need to be light, powerful, and flexible. Tough eh.

So there you go. In brampton that is the requirements. Sadly I did not meet all of those and so my figure skating career went down thte drain. I do wonder though, if I lived in some other city such as Toronto or like in Alberta somewhere, would i have been able to suceed....well we will never know since I won't be moving anytime soon and have become grossly unflexible and lethargic.

I kinda wish I had grew up doign tennis.... at least its semi (?) cheaper.... or maybe i should have done gymnastics.....ooooo or diving. Too bad so sad my (early) childhood is over.

awww...you poor thing. I love you though. And I'm glad you don't live in Alberta or somewhere else. If you did, I'd probably be a ridiculously serious person. And no one would want that, right?

Love you!
